Practical Theoretical Course of Radiophonist for Pilots according to Legislation in Force (Royal Decree 1036/2017)

Theoretical knowledge: 5 hours
Practical training: 5 hours

Objective:
Remote pilots who intend to perform specialized air operations in controlled airspace must have the necessary knowledge to obtain the qualification of radio operator for pilots. The purpose of the courses is to provide the student with the necessary knowledge to understand radio messages and communicate properly with any ATS unit (Air Traffic Services) in the corresponding airspace, in addition to knowing and correctly using communications in case of emergency and rescue and the corresponding signals.

1. Classification of airspace and air traffic services
1.1. Know the classes of airspace and the services that must be provided.
1.2. Know the structure and operation of information and transit services
aerial.

2. Principles of radiotelephony and communications
2.1. Define and know the characteristics of waves and wave transmission.
2.2. Identify the frequency bands and know their main characteristics.
2.3. Identify and know the wave types. Radio waves. Earth waves.
2.4. Know the characteristics and use of the VHF frequency band.
2.5. Know and identify the main components of a radio transmission.
2.6. Know and identify the different categories of messages.

3. Radiotelephony and communications
3.1. Know and use the phonetic alphabet.
3.2. Know and use the structure and components of standard communications.
3.3. Apply the transmission techniques correctly.
3.4. Describe and use standard phraseology
3.5. Know the different types of aerodrome and the types of transmission used in each of them.
3.6. Know the light and visual signals.

4. Radio procedures
4.1. Describe and explain the most frequent and necessary exit procedures.
4.2. Describe and explain the procedures en route.
4.3. Describe and explain the arrival procedures and traffic circuit.
4.4. Describe and explain the procedures in case of radio failure
4.5. Know the most commonly used abbreviations.

5. Emergency procedures
5.1. Define and explain the general emergency procedures.
5.2. Define and explain the relief procedures.
5.3. Define and explain the emergency procedures.
